Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing care for dogs and cats and is seeking a full-time Medical Director Veterinarian to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to lead a well-established general practice while maintaining a hands-on clinical role in a hospital committed to advanced medicine, exceptional patient care, and compassionate client service.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director Veterinarian will oversee the hospital’s medical operations while providing leadership, mentorship, and clinical guidance to the veterinary team. Responsibilities include advancing high standards of patient care and client service, mentoring veterinary staff, supporting DVM development through one-to-one coaching and quarterly production reviews, and promoting best practices that positively impact hospital performance. The Medical Director will work closely with the Hospital Manager to establish weekly priorities, review hospital operations and controllable costs, strengthen relationships with the referring veterinary community, and evaluate protocols that improve patient flow from admission through discharge. The role also includes participating in operational conference calls, contributing to strategic decision-making, implementing new hospital initiatives, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, emotional intelligence, and clinical excellence. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian with proven leadership abilities and a passion for developing both people and practice.

Practice Details
This well-established full-service general practice has been providing veterinary care to dogs and cats throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area for more than 20 years. The hospital is committed to remaining at the forefront of veterinary medicine through continual investment in advanced diagnostics, medical treatments, surgical procedures, and preventative healthcare. The practice is equipped with advanced medical, surgical, and dental equipment, an in-house laboratory, and ultrasonography to support a broad range of medical and surgical cases. Services include preventative care, diagnostics, surgery, sick care, dentistry, laser therapy, and wellness plans. The hospital performs a wide range of in-house surgical procedures, including spays and neuters, foreign body removals, biopsies, soft tissue surgery, and anaesthetic dental procedures, while following comprehensive patient monitoring and safety protocols. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Saturday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, and closed on Sundays.

Team
The Medical Director will work closely with the Hospital Manager and the wider veterinary team to foster a collaborative, supportive environment focused on delivering exceptional patient care and outstanding client service. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
