Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital providing primary care for dogs, cats, and exotic pets across the greater Rochester area. The hospital is seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to join the team on a full-time basis, providing clinical leadership while helping shape the hospital’s vision, culture, and standards of care. The role offers the opportunity to lead within a collaborative environment that provides care for a diverse range of species, including small mammals and reptiles.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director Veterinarian will play a key leadership role within the hospital, driving positive change and growth while maintaining high standards of patient and client care. Working alongside the Practice Manager and leadership team, they will develop strategies, implement improvements, support staff development, and help foster an exceptional hospital culture. The successful veterinarian will be passionate about teaching and sharing their knowledge within a highly collaborative environment. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital provides primary care for dogs, cats, pocket pets, and other exotic animals and is certified as a Fear Free hospital. Several veterinarians treat exotic species, including small mammals and reptiles, with a dedicated exotic treatment area available within the hospital. Services include wellness and sick examinations, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention, preventive dental care, spay and neuter procedures, blood, urine and fecal testing, diagnostic testing, end-of-life care, and nail trims. Palliative and hospice care is also available both within the hospital and in clients’ homes. The practice focuses on providing compassionate care for furry, feathered, and scaled patients. Hospital hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM–6:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:30 AM–2:00 PM.

Team
The hospital has four DVMs and a great tenured support team. The environment is highly collaborative, with veterinarians encouraged to teach, share their knowledge, and support one another. The team includes several DVMs who treat exotic pets, while one associate is certified in Palliative and Hospice Care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
