Job Description

Introduction
This modern small animal hospital in Tolleson, Arizona is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to provide clinical leadership while remaining heavily involved in hands-on medicine. The position combines an active veterinary caseload with responsibility for mentoring fellow doctors, influencing medical standards and supporting the continued development of the hospital’s clinical culture. Approximately 85% of the role is dedicated to practising medicine, with the remaining 15% focused on leadership and team development.

Working Hours / Rota
Specific hospital opening hours and the veterinarian’s rota have not been provided. The Lead Veterinarian will work closely with hospital leadership on doctor scheduling and staffing, helping to balance patient access, team wellbeing and the operational needs of the practice while maintaining substantial time in clinical practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Lead Veterinarian, you’ll manage your own clinical caseload while providing mentorship, coaching and clinical guidance to Associate Veterinarians. You’ll help maintain and continually improve medical protocols and standards of care, support the onboarding and development of new doctors and encourage collaborative case management and knowledge sharing across the team. You’ll also contribute to veterinary recruitment and staffing decisions and work closely with operational leadership to develop a positive, accountable and supportive hospital culture.

The hospital provides modern small animal medicine with an emphasis on clinical autonomy, evidence-based care and collaboration between veterinarians and the wider support team. Doctors have access to contemporary veterinary technology, advanced diagnostics and equipment to support their clinical decision-making and patient care. The leadership structure allows the Lead Veterinarian to remain predominantly clinical while having dedicated responsibility for doctor development, medical quality and the continued evolution of the hospital’s clinical environment.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
