Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing care for cats and dogs and is seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead their team in Pass Christian, Mississippi. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys a diverse caseload, values collaboration, and is passionate about delivering high-quality medicine in a supportive and team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to remain highly engaged in clinical practice while providing leadership and guidance to the hospital team.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will provide medical leadership for the hospital while maintaining an active clinical caseload, dedicating the majority of their time to practicing medicine. Responsibilities include overseeing surgical and medical cases across the hospital, ensuring positive patient outcomes, supporting client communication and education, establishing medical protocols, maintaining standards of care, and overseeing medical inventory and supplies. The role also includes managing and mentoring associate veterinarians, supporting staff development and training, participating in recruitment and performance management, and fostering a collaborative hospital culture. Strong clinical and surgical skills are required, with advanced soft tissue surgery experience preferred to support emergency and urgent care cases such as splenectomies, gastrointestinal foreign body obstructions, pyometras, cystotomies, exploratory surgeries, and laceration repairs. Additional responsibilities include supporting financial performance, assisting with budgeting and planning, monitoring key financial metrics, and driving community involvement and hospital growth. This position is intended for experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a diverse caseload ranging from wellness and preventative medicine to surgery and urgent care. The facility is equipped with three exam rooms, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and in-house IDEXX laboratory equipment, allowing the team to deliver efficient and high-quality patient care. Services offered include wellness care, dental care, surgical services, diagnostics, end-of-life care, laboratory services, microchipping, nutrition, pharmacy, and urgent care. The practice promotes a collaborative and positive culture supported by experienced team members dedicated to providing exceptional care to small animal patients. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and the hospital is closed on weekends.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
