Introduction
Our client is a full-service veterinary hospital in Oakland, California, currently seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead their dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned veterinarian with strong leadership skills who is ready to take on a pivotal role in guiding medical operations and elevating clinical standards in a dynamic, multi-service practice.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open seven days a week, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekends. The Medical Director will be expected to work a flexible schedule aligned with hospital needs, including participation in weekend coverage.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will oversee all aspects of clinical operations, mentor associate veterinarians, and work closely with support staff to ensure the delivery of exceptional medical care. Responsibilities include leading by example in providing high-quality veterinary services, performing surgeries, diagnostics, and preventive care, and collaborating with management to drive hospital growth, staff development, and operational excellence. This role is suitable for an experienced veterinarian with a passion for leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Practice Details
The hospital offers a wide range of services, including wellness exams, dental care, surgical procedures, emergency services, geriatric care, and hospice care. The facility is equipped with in-house diagnostic tools such as digital radiography, blood chemistry, and complete blood count analysis. The practice prides itself on compassionate care, advanced medical capabilities, and a strong reputation in the Oakland community.

Team
The practice currently includes one experienced DVM supported by a capable and long-standing team of technicians and client service staff. The culture is collaborative, with an emphasis on mentorship, professional development, and maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
