Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead their team, providing high-quality care for dogs and cats in a well-established small animal practice.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will serve as the clinical leader of the hospital, combining hands-on veterinary care with leadership responsibilities. You will oversee medical standards, mentor and develop associate veterinarians, and foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture. Clinical duties include delivering comprehensive care across wellness, diagnostics, surgery, and urgent care, while maintaining a high standard of patient outcomes. You will partner closely with the Practice Manager to support hospital operations, contribute to financial performance, and ensure compliance with medical and regulatory standards. Additional responsibilities include leading doctor meetings, supporting mentorship and externship programs, and acting as a key ambassador within the local community. This role is suited to an experienced veterinarian with a passion for leadership and clinical excellence.
Practice Details
This is a long-established small animal hospital with a strong reputation for compassionate, high-quality care. The practice provides a full spectrum of services including wellness and preventative care, in-house testing and diagnostics, advanced care, surgical procedures, and urgent care services. The hospital emphasizes strong client relationships and a supportive, growth-focused environment, backed by a wider network that provides resources, workflow support, and opportunities for professional development. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and closed on Sundays.
Team
The team consists of 5 DVMs supported by a great tenured support team, creating a collaborative, stable, and team-oriented environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
