Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a full-service hospital providing comprehensive veterinary care for dogs, cats, exotics, and wildlife in Murrieta, California. They are seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to join the practice on a full-time basis. The hospital has served the local community since 2022 and provides a medicine-forward environment with a diverse caseload and a strong focus on advanced patient care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director Veterinarian will provide clinical leadership while remaining actively involved in patient care, with a particular emphasis on surgery and confident canine and feline medicine. The role involves mentoring and developing other veterinarians, supporting the growth of the medical team, and helping shape the hospital’s medical culture. Clinical responsibilities span wellness, internal medicine, urgent care, diagnostics, complex medical cases, and a strong surgical caseload that includes soft tissue procedures, fracture repair, and reproductive cases such as C-sections. Experience with exotics or wildlife is not required but would be beneficial. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital is equipped and staffed to manage complex cases and offers wellness and prevention, testing and diagnostics, advanced care, surgical procedures, and urgent care. Clinical capabilities include blood analysis, X-rays, surgery, fracture repair, and access to a range of medications, with the hospital maintaining established relationships with local breeders and seeing a significant number of reproductive cases. The practice is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Team
The hospital has three DVMs and a great tenured support team, including experienced veterinary leadership and a Registered Veterinary Technician in the Practice Manager role. The team is collaborative and supportive, with a “say yes” culture focused on finding solutions for patients, clients, and colleagues. Credentialed professionals are respected, while mentoring, professional development, and defined career goals are encouraged.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
