Introduction
Our client is a full-service animal hospital based in Montgomery, Alabama, seeking a Medical Director to lead their thriving practice. The hospital has been a trusted name in the community for over 35 years, providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care for small animals. In addition to their general practice, they are home to Montgomery’s only feline-exclusive facility, designed to meet the comfort and unique needs of their cat patients. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to lead a dedicated team while continuing to practice high-quality medicine in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position offering a balanced and consistent work schedule. The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on weekends, allowing for excellent work-life balance. The Medical Director role includes 90% clinical duties alongside leadership responsibilities, ensuring continued engagement in hands-on patient care.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director is responsible for providing strong clinical leadership, mentoring associate veterinarians, and ensuring compliance with medical regulations. The role includes overseeing surgical and medical cases, establishing protocols, ensuring quality standards, and supporting the team in delivering excellent client service. Responsibilities also include financial and operational oversight in collaboration with the Hospital Manager, cultivating a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be an experienced veterinarian with strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to lead by example while promoting compassionate, high-quality care.

Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
