Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a well-established general practice hospital seeking a Full-Time Medical Director to join its team. Caring for cats and dogs, the practice provides comprehensive general practice medicine and is looking for an experienced veterinarian to combine hands-on clinical work with medical leadership and mentorship.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will serve as the clinical leader and medical voice of the practice, setting the standard for medical quality, exceptional patient care, positive client experiences, and a collaborative, high-performing team culture. The role remains predominantly hands on, with the Medical Director spending most of their time providing direct patient care while also guiding medical quality and supporting the professional development of the veterinary team.
Leading by example, the Medical Director will deliver high-quality medicine, mentor and develop associate veterinarians, and foster an environment centered around quality, compassion, and teamwork. Working closely with the Practice Manager, they will provide medical oversight of hospital operations and care delivery to support consistently exceptional outcomes for patients, clients, and team members, alongside the achievement of performance metrics and business goals.
Candidates should have a minimum of three to five years of experience as a practicing veterinarian. The position requires a minimum of 35 hours per week.

Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
The 3,800-square-foot facility features six examination rooms and is well equipped to support general practice, dentistry, diagnostics, and surgery. Clinical technology includes digital X-ray, ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment, digital dental radiography, and laser therapy.
For surgical patients, modern anesthetic monitoring equipment supports intraoperative monitoring of heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and temperature. IV fluid therapy and pre- and postoperative pain management are also available when appropriate.
Comprehensive general practice services include wellness examinations, preventative healthcare, vaccinations, dentistry, diagnostic testing, sick-patient care, spaying and neutering, and surgery. Surgical procedures include spays and neuters, mass and tumor removals, wound repair, bladder stone removal, gastrointestinal foreign body removal, hernia repair, and other soft tissue procedures. The team also coordinates with specialists for advanced procedures such as TPLO and complex orthopedic surgery when required. Clinical areas within the practice include general practice, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, and surgery.
The practice sees an average of 16 or more patients each day across wellness, surgery, dentistry, and sick-patient appointments. Having cared for animals in the Monrovia community for several decades, its approach centers around individualized treatment plans and compassionate, high-quality care throughout each patient’s life.

Team
The hospital is home to three DVMs supported by a dedicated team of Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Client Support Specialists, with a 3:1 support staff to veterinarian ratio.
The team culture is collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork. Veterinarians also have access to mentorship programs, flexible scheduling, continuing education support, and medical autonomy.
