Introduction
This established 24/7 emergency and multi-specialty hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking a Specialty Medical Director to join its clinical leadership team. Established in 2008 as the city’s first specialty veterinary practice, the hospital provides Emergency, Surgery and Cardiology services and is looking for a Board Certified or Residency Trained veterinarian in Surgery, Neurology or Internal Medicine to combine specialist clinical practice with hospital-wide medical leadership.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing continuous emergency and specialty care. The Specialty Medical Director position includes designated administrative time alongside clinical responsibilities, with flexible scheduling options available to support the balance between leadership duties, specialist casework and life outside of the hospital.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Specialty Medical Director, you’ll work alongside the Practice Manager and hospital leadership team to guide medical standards, clinical excellence and overall hospital performance while continuing to practise within your specialty. You’ll mentor and develop veterinarians, support recruitment and retention, encourage collaboration across the clinical team and use data-informed decision making to help guide hospital operations. The position requires a Board Certified or Residency Trained veterinarian in Surgery, Neurology or Internal Medicine with strong communication skills and an interest in developing both people and medicine.

Practice Details
The hospital is a multi-specialty and 24/7 emergency centre providing Emergency, Surgery and Cardiology services to patients throughout Salt Lake City and the surrounding veterinary community. The team places a strong emphasis on collaboration, continuing education and developing both veterinarians and support staff, while maintaining relationships with local referring practices. The Medical Director will also have access to a wider network of specialists and medical leaders, providing additional opportunities for peer collaboration, mentorship and continued professional development.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
