A respected community-focused animal hospital on Mercer Island, Washington is seeking a Medical Director to guide clinical standards, mentor veterinarians, and lead the next chapter of patient care. This role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys balancing hands-on clinical work with leadership, and who takes pride in building strong teams, consistent medical standards, and trusted client relationships within a well-established practice.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and is closed on weekends. The Medical Director role includes a strong in-practice presence, combining scheduled clinical time with dedicated leadership and administrative responsibilities to support both patient care and hospital operations.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Medical Director, you will serve as the clinical leader for the hospital, setting and maintaining high medical standards while remaining actively involved in patient care. You will mentor and support associate veterinarians, guide case management, oversee clinical protocols, and partner closely with hospital leadership on workflow, service development, and quality improvement. The role also involves fostering a positive, collaborative culture, supporting professional growth, and ensuring clear, compassionate communication with clients and the wider community.

Practice Details
The hospital provides comprehensive small animal care for dogs and cats, supported by modern diagnostics, progressive treatment options, and a strong emphasis on patient comfort and safety. Clinical decision-making is guided by evidence-based medicine and thoughtful case management, allowing veterinarians to deliver consistent, high-quality care. The practice has deep roots in the local community and is known for building long-term relationships with pet owners through trust and clinical excellence.

Team
You will lead a close-knit clinical team currently consisting of two veterinarians, supported by experienced technicians and client care staff. This small-team environment allows for meaningful mentorship, direct collaboration, and the opportunity to shape both team culture and clinical direction. The role offers significant influence in how the hospital continues to grow and evolve.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
