Our client is a hospital in Merced, CA, seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director to lead their team. Since 1977, this full-service animal hospital has been providing exceptional veterinary care to cats and dogs, earning a reputation for professional, compassionate service and high-quality medicine. With comprehensive services and advanced diagnostics, the hospital is committed to supporting pets’ lifelong health.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. It is closed on Sundays. This is a full-time Medical Director position with a structured weekly schedule and no after-hours requirements.

Role Description and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Medical Director with strong leadership skills and a passion for high-quality veterinary medicine. In this role, you will oversee medical operations, mentor associate veterinarians, and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsibilities also include maintaining the highest standard of patient care through routine wellness exams, preventive medicine, dentistry, and surgery. Surgical duties include soft tissue surgery, spays and neuters, mass removals, and dental surgeries. In addition to clinical care, you will partner with the hospital leadership team to manage operations, support financial health, and foster a collaborative and professional work culture.

Practice Details
The hospital is a full-service facility offering a wide range of veterinary services including routine exams, vaccinations, dental care, and surgical procedures. Equipped with an in-house diagnostic lab, the hospital provides advanced testing and rapid diagnoses with digital radiography, bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal exams. With a focus on both preventive and surgical care, the hospital ensures comprehensive support for the pets and families it serves.

Team
The hospital is home to three DVMs supported by a skilled team of veterinary professionals. The environment is collaborative and team-focused, with a commitment to delivering compassionate, client-centered care and supporting professional growth.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
