Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring for a Medical Director position. This is a full-service veterinary hospital providing comprehensive care for companion animals and large animals, and the role combines hands-on clinical practice with medical leadership. The hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to lead medical standards, mentor associate veterinarians, and support operational and clinical excellence while continuing to practice medicine.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and is closed on weekends. The position is available on a full-time or part-time basis. Emergency and urgent care services are offered, with no overnight or after-hours rota scheduling.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role is open to experienced veterinarians only. The Medical Director provides strong leadership for the hospital by managing and mentoring associate veterinarians and ensuring regulatory compliance related to the practice of veterinary medicine. Responsibilities include setting and overseeing medical standards and policies, promoting teamwork across services, reviewing medical records for quality and accuracy, managing controlled drugs, and conducting regular doctor meetings. The role also involves active clinical practice, seeing patients, handling complex cases, supporting client communication, addressing complaints or referral concerns, and partnering with leadership on budgeting, equipment planning, and overall hospital performance.

Practice Details
The hospital has been serving its community since 1948 and offers a wide range of veterinary services under one roof. These include wellness and preventive care, vaccinations, internal medicine, dentistry, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, grooming, geriatrics, cold laser therapy, radiology, cardiology, and emergency and urgent care. The practice also benefits from access to board-certified specialists who travel to the hospital to provide advanced and specialty care. Diagnostic capabilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound, urinalysis, and in-house laboratory testing, supporting timely and accurate diagnoses. The culture emphasizes compassionate care, preventive medicine, collaboration between in-house staff and mobile specialists, and long-term client relationships.

The hospital is supported by 2 DVMs and a fantastic support team, fostering a collaborative, experienced, and team-oriented environment focused on delivering high-quality veterinary care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
