Our client is a veterinary organization seeking a Regional Medical Director to provide full-time leadership across multiple hospitals within their network.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Regional Medical Director serves as the senior clinical leader for a large group of hospitals, overseeing medical quality, doctor engagement, and overall hospital performance. This role involves translating strategic objectives into actionable clinical plans, ensuring consistent standards of care, and driving the adoption of best practices and evidence-based medicine. You will mentor and develop Medical Directors and associate veterinarians, supporting recruitment, onboarding, and long-term retention of veterinary talent. Collaboration with operations and cross-functional teams is central to the role, ensuring alignment between medical excellence and business performance. Responsibilities also include monitoring clinical KPIs, improving patient outcomes, leading performance improvement initiatives, and supporting financial goals through operational efficiency. This is a highly strategic and hands-on leadership position suited to an experienced veterinarian, requiring up to 60% travel across the region.
Practice Details
This position supports a large network of hospitals, ranging between 70–100 sites, with a focus on maintaining consistent clinical standards and high-quality patient care across all locations. The role operates at both strategic and executional levels, partnering with departments including Operations, People & Culture, Growth, Finance, IT, and executive leadership. The organization emphasizes clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and scalable frameworks to support growth and hospital integration. There is a strong focus on fostering collaboration, enhancing workflows, and supporting both medical and operational success across the region.
Team
You will work closely with Medical Directors, associate veterinarians, and cross-functional leadership teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on mentorship, engagement, and clinical excellence.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
