Introduction
Our client is a multi-specialty referral and emergency hospital seeking a Medical Director to lead their team in Manassas, Virginia. The hospital provides advanced emergency and specialty care for dogs and cats and operates within a large, veterinarian-led organization. This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced veterinarian or veterinary specialist to step into a high-impact leadership role within a state-of-the-art clinical environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital provides 24/7 emergency services. Specialty services operate Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm, and are closed on weekends. They are open to discussing the schedule of the Medical Director.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will serve as the local medical leader for the hospital, overseeing all specialty and emergency doctors while partnering closely with the Hospital Director through a leadership model. Responsibilities include guiding medical teams, directing workflows, overseeing hiring and onboarding of doctors, supporting professional development, managing performance issues, and ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Additional duties include scheduling doctors, leading department meetings, supporting referral partner relationships, handling escalated client and case concerns, participating in operational and financial planning, and ensuring the hospital has the necessary tools and resources to deliver excellent care. This role requires strong leadership experience, the ability to manage change effectively, and a collaborative mindset. The position is most suitable for board-certified specialists, experienced emergency clinicians, or veterinarians with demonstrated leadership backgrounds.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a wide range of specialty and emergency services, including internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, and 24/7 emergency care, supported by a high caseload of over 13,000 patients per year. The facility has recently undergone extensive interior renovations and features modern diagnostic and imaging capabilities, including a Siemens CT scanner, digital radiology, ultrasound, in-house laboratory services, and advanced surgical equipment. Team

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
