Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring a full-time Specialty Medical Director Veterinarian – Criticalist or Internist to join a 24/7 emergency and specialty referral hospital serving dogs and cats. This opportunity is ideal for a board-certified or residency-trained specialist looking to transition into a leadership role while continuing to practice advanced veterinary medicine within a collaborative specialty environment supported by world-class facilities and technology.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Specialty Medical Director will help establish the direction and medical quality of the hospital while continuing to provide advanced specialty care in critical care or internal medicine. Responsibilities include collaborating with hospital leadership and regional medical teams, mentoring and teaching colleagues, supporting medical quality standards, and managing complex referral and emergency cases. Clinical responsibilities include advanced diagnostics, intensive care, emergency and specialty procedures, and collaborative case management across multiple specialty departments. This role is suited to an experienced veterinarian with a passion for leadership, teaching, and delivering world-class specialty medicine.

Practice Details
This AAHA-accredited, 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital spans 27,000 square feet and offers a collaborative referral environment alongside multiple specialty services including emergency and critical care, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, dermatology, and rehabilitation. The hospital is equipped with advanced technology including an in-house laboratory, ultrasound, ventilators, telemetry, spiral CT, MRI, Doppler, and a linear accelerator. Advanced procedures include endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, transfusion therapy, intensive care, and advanced imaging. Operating hours are Monday 6:00 am to 12:00 am, Tuesday through Friday open 24 hours, and closed Saturday and Sunday.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
