Job Description
Introduction
This small animal hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada is seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead its six-doctor team. The position combines hands-on clinical medicine with responsibility for the medical direction and clinical standards of the hospital. Providing comprehensive care for dogs and cats, the practice offers a varied caseload ranging from routine wellness through more involved medical cases and surgery.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 7:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. This is a full-time position with rotating weekend coverage when needed, allowing the Medical Director to balance their own clinical caseload with responsibilities across doctor development and medical leadership.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As Medical Director, you’ll remain actively involved in clinical practice while providing leadership and direction to the six-doctor veterinary team. You’ll help establish and maintain medical standards, support clinical quality and mentor fellow veterinarians while encouraging collaboration and continued professional development. Alongside managing your own medical and surgical cases, you’ll contribute to the wider direction of the hospital and work closely with the team to maintain strong patient care and client relationships.
Practice Details
The hospital has a six-doctor team providing comprehensive general practice medicine for dogs and cats, including preventative care, diagnostics, management of more involved medical cases and surgery. The facility offers modern veterinary technology including digital radiography and ultrasound, with hands-free radiology techniques and Fear Free approaches used where possible. The collaborative environment provides the incoming Medical Director with an established clinical team while offering the opportunity to influence medical quality and the hospital’s continued development.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
