Job Description
Introduction
An established veterinary hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada is looking to hire a full-time Medical Director Veterinarian to lead the next stage of the hospital’s development. The practice provides care for a really varied mix of patients, including dogs, cats, rabbits, pocket pets and goats, giving the team more variety than you’d typically find in a traditional small animal hospital. This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who wants to remain hands-on clinically while having a genuine say in how the hospital develops, from the culture of the team through to the medical standards and overall direction of the practice.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This is a hands-on Medical Director position, so alongside managing your own cases and continuing to practice medicine, you’ll play an important part in shaping the clinical side of the hospital. You’ll help establish medical standards and protocols, mentor and develop the veterinary team, support recruitment as the hospital grows and work closely with the wider leadership team to create a positive and collaborative working environment. There’s plenty of scope to make a real impact here rather than simply stepping into an established leadership structure, with the opportunity to refine workflows and help shape how the hospital operates moving forward. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian with at least 5 years of clinical experience, with previous leadership or management experience preferred.
Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services alongside Urgent and Emergency Care, Orthopedic Surgery, Same-Day Walk-In appointments and veterinary chiropractic care, giving its veterinarians a broad and varied caseload. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, Echocardiography and an In-House Laboratory, alongside on-site ophthalmological testing and surgical capabilities. The combination of GP, emergency, orthopedic and exotic work gives the hospital plenty of clinical variety, while its diagnostic capabilities allow the team to work through a good range of cases in-house. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturday availability by appointment, and is closed on Sundays.
Team
You’ll be taking the lead within a hospital that is actively looking to build and develop its veterinary team, making this a little different from stepping into a Medical Director role where the team and culture are already completely established. A big part of the opportunity is mentoring the people around you, helping recruit the right veterinarians as the hospital develops and creating a culture where people communicate well, share knowledge and genuinely enjoy working together. The wider hospital team places a strong emphasis on training, accountability and long-term development, while you’ll also have opportunities to collaborate with experienced veterinarians across a broader network of hospitals when another perspective or additional support would be useful.
Candidate Requirements

- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
