Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead their small animal practice, which also sees some pocket pets and exotics. This is an opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to combine clinical excellence with leadership in a well-established, community-focused setting.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. The hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 7:30pm, Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm, and Saturday from 8:00am to noon.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director is a hands-on leader who manages cases and supports the team on the treatment floor, modeling excellent clinical practice. Responsibilities include providing mentorship and skill training to nurture the growth of veterinarians and clinical staff, upholding and advancing medical standards, protocols, and patient care quality, and partnering with operational management on culture, growth, and strategic initiatives. The role also focuses on maintaining a positive, supportive, and collaborative hospital environment. This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian.

Founded in 1987, the hospital has built a strong reputation with a loyal client base in the Lancaster County community and is recognized for award-winning patient care. It is AAHA Accredited and values low-stress handling and Fear-Free techniques. The hospital is well-equipped with an in-house laboratory, in-house pharmacy, diagnostic testing capabilities, digital X-rays, ultrasound, tonometry, electrocardiograms, video endoscopy, and otoscopy. Services include wellness exams, preventative care, vaccinations, spay and neutering, microchipping, dietary management, treatment of major and minor medical issues, surgical care, dental care, pain management, laser therapy, blood pressure management, senior wellness, animal behavior counseling, client education, and pet loss support.

Team
The hospital has a three-DVM team supported by a 3:1 staff-to-doctor ratio with tenured technicians and support staff, enabling doctors to focus on medicine and maintain an efficient schedule within a collaborative environment.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
