Introduction
A well-established small animal hospital in Lakewood, Colorado is looking to hire a Medical Director. Providing veterinary care for dogs and cats, the hospital offers a broad General Practice caseload within a well-equipped clinical environment, making this a great opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys remaining hands-on with their patients while also taking the next step in clinical leadership.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This is a hands-on Medical Director position, so alongside leading the clinical side of the hospital, you’ll continue managing your own cases and practicing medicine. You’ll be involved across the full scope of General Practice, with the freedom to use your own clinical judgement across diagnostics, treatment planning, surgery, dentistry and ongoing case management. From a leadership perspective, you’ll help guide clinical standards within the hospital, support the wider veterinary team and create an environment where people feel comfortable sharing ideas and discussing cases. There’s also access to a much wider network of veterinarians and board-certified specialists when another perspective or additional expertise would be useful. Given the clinical leadership responsibilities involved, this opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian who is comfortable combining patient care with supporting and developing the people around them.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services and has a good range of resources available for investigating and managing cases in-house. Equipment and clinical facilities available include, but are not limited to, Radiography, Dental Radiography, an In-House Laboratory and an In-Office Surgical Suite, supporting the hospital’s medical, diagnostic, dental and surgical caseload. The practice also provides hospitalization when patients require continued care and monitoring. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and is closed on Sundays.

Team
You’ll be working alongside an established team of veterinary, management and client service professionals, with each person playing their part in keeping the hospital running smoothly and supporting high standards of patient care. Teamwork is a big part of the environment, with veterinarians able to lean on colleagues within the hospital as well as a much wider veterinary and specialist network when needed. As Medical Director, you’ll have the opportunity to play an important part in that culture, helping the team continue learning, sharing knowledge and working well together while still giving individual clinicians the space to manage their own cases.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
