Job Description
Introduction
An AAHA accredited small animal hospital in Lakewood, Colorado is seeking a Medical Director to lead its veterinary team. Serving the community for more than thirty five years, the hospital has built a strong reputation for compassionate care and high quality veterinary medicine. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced veterinarian looking to guide clinical standards while continuing to practice medicine within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 7:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, with the practice closed on Sundays. The Medical Director role follows a full time schedule which typically includes four ten hour shifts designed to support both patient access and a balanced working routine.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will lead the veterinary team while continuing to practice as a clinician within the hospital. Responsibilities include mentoring veterinarians, maintaining high medical standards, supporting team development and helping guide the overall medical direction of the hospital. The role also involves collaborating with leadership to strengthen clinical protocols, support team growth and ensure consistent patient care.

This AAHA accredited hospital provides comprehensive small animal care for cats and dogs, managing a varied caseload of wellness and medical appointments. The facility is equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment capabilities including digital radiology, in house laboratory testing and routine surgical services. The hospital emphasizes fear free handling techniques where possible and maintains a strong culture focused on collaboration and patient wellbeing.
Team
The hospital is supported by a team of two veterinarians alongside experienced technicians and dedicated support staff who work together to deliver compassionate and consistent veterinary care.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
