Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital for Cats and Dogs that is hiring a Full-Time Medical Director. Since 1980, the practice has built deep trust within the local community and the wider surrounding area, reflected in its excellent 4.8-star Google rating. This is an opportunity to join an established and highly regarded hospital in a leadership capacity, helping to guide the future direction of the practice while maintaining the high standards of care that have earned the loyalty of generations of clients.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will be responsible for the full scope of Medical Director responsibilities while continuing to provide exceptional clinical care. In addition to overseeing medical standards and patient outcomes, you will be responsible for mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, partnering closely with the Practice Manager to build a healthy and engaged team, and driving the continuous improvement of patient care and client service. This key leadership position offers the opportunity to shape clinical protocols, support professional development across the medical team, and foster a culture built on collaboration, accountability, and growth. Specific hours are to be discussed, with the added benefit of no weekend responsibilities. This role is suited to an experienced veterinarian with a minimum of two years of practical clinical experience who is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and advancing the quality of care within a well-established hospital.

Practice Details
The hospital offers a full scope of GP services alongside Urgent Care and Orthopedics, providing exposure to a diverse caseload that includes both routine and more complex medical and surgical cases. The practice extends its Urgent Care availability until 10:00pm throughout the week, allowing the team to provide enhanced access to care for patients requiring same-day treatment and medical attention. The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, including but not limited to digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, ultrasound, and Tonopen equipment, supporting efficient diagnostics and comprehensive patient management. In addition to its veterinary services, the practice also provides pet behavioural therapy, allowing clinicians to support both the physical and behavioural wellbeing of their patients. Operating Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and closed on weekends, the hospital offers a structured schedule while maintaining a strong commitment to accessible, high-quality veterinary care.

Team
You will work alongside a five-doctor team dedicated to upholding the high clinical standards that have defined this hospital for over four decades. Working within a highly collaborative clinical environment, you will be supported by dedicated veterinary technicians and client service professionals who share a commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care. The culture encourages collaboration, mentorship, innovation, and open communication, allowing veterinarians to learn from colleagues while continuing to develop their own clinical and leadership expertise. This supportive environment is designed to foster long-term professional growth while maintaining the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care.
