Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a full-service animal hospital located in Tennessee, seeking a Medical Lead Veterinarian to join and guide their dedicated team. This hospital provides a wide range of services for companion animals, combining advanced medical capabilities with a compassionate, community-centered approach. The Medical Lead Veterinarian will play a key role in shaping the hospital’s clinical standards, supporting associate veterinarians through mentorship, and ensuring that both patient care and team wellbeing remain at the forefront of daily operations.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The hospital is closed on Sundays. This is a full-time position, with the Medical Lead typically spending the majority of their time in clinical work alongside a portion of leadership and administrative duties.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Lead Veterinarian is responsible for maintaining and role modelling the highest standards of medical excellence, while providing mentorship and guidance to the veterinary team. The role combines clinical practice with leadership, supporting the hospital’s pursuit of exceptional patient care, team engagement, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include performing high-quality clinical work, managing and developing associate veterinarians, conducting performance discussions, overseeing scheduling, supporting recruitment, and ensuring adherence to medical protocols and regulatory requirements. The Medical Lead will partner closely with the Practice Manager to promote a collaborative and supportive culture that emphasizes continuous improvement and professional growth. This position is open to veterinarians with at least two years of clinical experience who demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to advancing medical standards and team success.

Practice Details
The hospital is a modern, well-equipped facility offering comprehensive veterinary care that includes urgent care, dermatology, vaccinations, anaesthesia and patient monitoring, preventative medicine, orthopaedic surgery, chemotherapy and cancer treatment, cardiology, soft tissue surgery, radiology, MMP surgery, wellness services, dentistry, and ultrasound. The practice focuses on delivering progressive, high-quality medicine while ensuring that each patient and client receives individual attention and compassionate care. Team
The hospital currently has a team of four doctors supported by an experienced and dedicated group of technicians and client care staff. Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
