Job Description

Introduction
Our client is an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital seeking a full-time Medical Director to join its team. The practice provides comprehensive small animal care for dogs and cats and is committed to high standards of medicine, strong client relationships, and continued clinical development. This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian who wants to combine hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibility, mentoring fellow doctors and helping guide the medical direction and performance of the hospital.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will continue to practice as a veterinarian while leading and developing the associate DVM team. Clinical responsibilities include comprehensive primary care, internal medicine, preventative medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, oncology support, orthopedics, ophthalmology, pain management, and client education. Leadership responsibilities include conducting regular performance and development discussions with associate veterinarians, supporting individual clinical and production goals, leading monthly doctor meetings, helping establish and maintain medical standards and best practices, and supervising mentorship and externship programs. The Medical Director will also partner with the Practice Manager on hospital performance, annual operating plans, financial goals, regulatory and DEA compliance, and continued improvements to patient care and client service. The role requires a minimum of two years of practical clinical experience.

Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and is closed on Sundays. The practice is AAHA accredited and offers comprehensive small animal medicine supported by advanced diagnostics including digital radiography, ultrasound, tonometry, bloodwork and laboratory testing. Services include wellness and preventative care, dentistry, internal medicine, dermatology, nutrition, parasite prevention, senior care, hospice and euthanasia, cardiology, endocrinology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, acupuncture, diagnostics and surgery. Surgical services include spay and neuter procedures, soft tissue surgery, mass removals, dental surgery and cystotomy. Veterinarians also have access to internal specialty consultation and advanced educational resources to support management of more complex cases.

Team
The hospital has four DVMs working alongside a collaborative support team. The Medical Director will lead and mentor the associate veterinarians while partnering closely with the Practice Manager to support a healthy, engaged team and strong hospital performance. The culture emphasizes collaboration, professional development, accountability and continuous improvement, with the Medical Director serving as a clinical role model and helping foster an environment focused on high-quality medicine, strong client service and team growth.
