Introduction
An established veterinary practice in Johns Island, South Carolina is seeking an experienced Medical Director to join its team on a full-time basis. The practice provides comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats through an integrated clinical model combining conventional veterinary medicine, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and complementary therapies. The position provides the opportunity to maintain an active General Practice caseload while assuming responsibility for clinical leadership, medical standards and the continued development of a distinctive practice offering individualized treatment options across traditional and integrative medicine.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will combine hands-on clinical practice with responsibility for the medical leadership and continued development of the hospital. The clinical component encompasses the full scope of General Practice responsibilities, including wellness and preventive care, diagnostic investigation, treatment planning, dentistry, surgery and ongoing medical management, alongside opportunities to incorporate integrative treatment options where appropriate. Leadership responsibilities include supporting high standards of medicine, providing clinical guidance and mentorship, contributing to the development of medical protocols and workflows, and working closely with practice management to support the performance and continued growth of the hospital. The successful veterinarian will help foster effective communication and collaboration across the clinical team while maintaining responsibility for their own patients and client relationships.

Practice Details
The practice provides a full scope of GP services, alongside Urgent Care, Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, Herbal Therapy, Laser Therapy, Behavioral Care and Nutritional Counseling. The integrated clinical model allows conventional diagnostics and treatments to be combined with complementary approaches to develop individualized treatment plans according to each patient’s requirements. Diagnostic capabilities include Radiology and Ultrasound, while the hospital also provides comprehensive surgical and dental care with patient monitoring and postoperative support. Same-day appointments are available for urgent concerns, with the team assessing patients during hospital hours and directing those requiring additional Emergency care to an appropriate facility where necessary. The practice is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Team
The practice currently has an established two-veterinarian team, supported by a Practice Manager, Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistants and administrative professionals. The veterinary team brings experience across General Practice, Emergency Medicine and Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology and integrative medicine, with additional qualifications and experience in Veterinary Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. The incoming Medical Director will provide clinical leadership within this established team, supporting collaborative case management, professional development and consistent medical standards while contributing to the continued development of the practice’s integrated approach to patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
