Job Description

Introduction
With a strong focus on preventive care, client education and collaborative medicine, this small animal hospital in Huntington Beach, California is looking to welcome a Veterinary Medical Director to lead its clinical team. Providing care exclusively for dogs and cats, the hospital combines comprehensive General Practice medicine with urgent, surgical and dental care, all within a modern facility and a team that includes people who have worked together for more than 20 years.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role combines hands-on clinical work with responsibility for the medical direction of the hospital, giving you the opportunity to continue managing your own cases while having a genuine influence over how the wider clinical team develops. You’ll take the lead on maintaining medical standards and protocols, mentoring and developing the veterinary team and creating a positive environment where people feel comfortable collaborating and continuing to improve. You’ll also work closely with the Hospital Manager and regional leadership around hospital growth, clinical outcomes and opportunities to strengthen the service, while helping guide communication around more complex cases and client concerns. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian, with 3–5 years of clinical experience preferred and previous leadership or mentoring experience particularly valuable.

Practice Details
The hospital operates from a state-of-the-art facility and provides a full scope of GP services alongside Urgent Care, Surgery and Dentistry, with a particularly strong emphasis on preventive medicine and responsible pet ownership. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, diagnostic imaging, In-House Bloodwork capabilities, Dental Radiography and modern surgical facilities, alongside an On-Site Pharmacy. The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Team
You’ll be leading a current 3-DVM team alongside an established group of Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, client service professionals and hospital management. There’s a particularly nice sense of continuity within the practice, with the current advert highlighting team members who have been with the hospital for more than 20 years. Rather than simply stepping into an administrative leadership position, you’ll be working directly alongside this team, giving you the opportunity to understand how the hospital works day to day, mentor the people around you and help shape its next stage of clinical development while preserving the collaborative culture already in place.

Candidate Requirements
