Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a privately owned hospital hiring for a Lead Veterinarian, with full-time preferred although part-time may be considered depending on the candidate’s requirements. The hospital is a walk-in access-to-veterinary care initiative in Houston, TX, providing care for cats, dogs, exotics and small farm animals, although the practice is also open to a veterinarian who wishes to see cats and dogs only. The hospital believes every individual and family has the right to the joy, love and health benefits of pet ownership, assessing each family’s unique needs and financial circumstances to provide high-quality care within those constraints. Its overarching goals are to keep pets in their homes, elevate animal welfare within the community, and prevent the surrender or euthanasia of pets due to financial hardship.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian who is comfortable with surgery, urgent care and emergency cases. The role involves providing the full scope of GP, urgent care and walk-in emergency care, with the opportunity to work across a varied caseload. Doctor hours are open to discussion, with full-time veterinarians typically working four days per week, arriving between 8:30am and 9:00am and finishing between 4:00pm and 5:00pm.
Practice Details
The hospital provides walk-in GP, urgent care and emergency services, with the current doctor also performing some orthopedic procedures. There is openness to expanding the services offered in the future. The practice is well-equipped with in-house IDEXX laboratory equipment, Sedivue, digital radiography, ultrasound and a cloud-based electronic medical record system. Facilities include one exam room, a euthanasia room, one surgery suite, a dedicated dental unit setup and an isolation room. The team aims to practice in line with Fear Free principles. The hospital is open Sunday to Friday from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Team
The hospital is seeking a veterinarian to join as the Lead Veterinarian. The support team includes seven technicians, providing a 4:1 technician-to-doctor ratio.
