Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing specialty and emergency veterinary care and is seeking a Specialty Medical Director Veterinarian to lead clinical operations while continuing to practice advanced medicine. This is a leadership opportunity within a multi-specialty and emergency setting, ideal for an experienced clinician looking to influence both medical standards and hospital performance.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. Referral services operate Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, with the hospital providing 24/7 emergency care. The role includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities with protected administrative time.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Specialty Medical Director Veterinarian will provide clinical leadership across emergency and specialty services, establishing and maintaining medical standards, protocols, and best practices. Responsibilities include mentoring veterinarians, interns, and support staff, supporting a collaborative hospital culture, and partnering with leadership on strategic planning, recruitment, and growth initiatives. The role maintains an active clinical caseload aligned with the veterinarian’s expertise and is suited to an experienced veterinarian, ideally a board-certified specialist or emergency clinician.

Practice Details
This is a multi-specialty and emergency hospital offering advanced care in internal medicine, surgery, behavior, rehabilitation, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, radioiodine therapy, emergency, and critical care. The facility is a 12,000-square-foot hospital featuring 12 exam rooms, a fully staffed ICU, and comprehensive in-house laboratory capabilities including chemistry, CBC, blood gas, and advanced diagnostic support with boarded radiologists and clinical pathologists. Advanced equipment includes computed tomography, fluoroscopy, digital radiology, color-flow doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, minimally invasive surgical equipment, oxygen therapy systems, and a fully equipped rehabilitation suite with k-laser, e-stim, and underwater treadmill. The hospital operates as a trusted referral center with 24/7 emergency services and emphasizes collaboration, advanced medicine, and high-quality patient care.

Team
The team consists of 11 DVMs and a great tenured support team, including board-certified specialists, emergency clinicians, and highly trained technicians working in a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
