Job Description

Introduction
This brand-new small animal hospital in Herriman, Utah is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to help launch and lead its clinical team. Purpose-built by veterinarians, the practice has been designed to support high-quality medicine through advanced equipment, modern technology, and an efficient workflow that allows doctors to focus on patient care. The hospital will primarily see dogs and cats, offering preventative care, diagnostics, dentistry, wellness services, and a broad range of surgical procedures. The practice will be open Monday to Saturday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, with flexible scheduling available including two, three, or four 10-hour shifts each week.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Lead Veterinarian, you’ll combine clinical practice with medical leadership, providing high-quality preventative, medical, dental, and surgical care while mentoring and developing the veterinary team. You’ll perform routine surgeries alongside more advanced soft tissue procedures including mass removals, laceration repairs, gastropexies, hernia repairs, and selected foreign body surgeries. You’ll also establish medical protocols, oversee clinical quality, support technician development, and help create a collaborative culture as the hospital grows.

Practice Details
This purpose-built hospital has been designed from the ground up to provide an exceptional veterinary experience for patients, clients, and clinicians alike. The facility is equipped with in-house haematology and chemistry analysers, urinalysis, digital radiography, Butterfly ultrasound, anaesthesia monitoring, laser therapy, microscopy, and autoclave sterilisation equipment. The practice will initially support a team of two to three veterinarians alongside a planned 2:1 technician-to-doctor ratio, creating an environment focused on efficiency, teamwork, and excellent patient care.

Team
You’ll lead a growing team of two to three veterinarians supported by skilled technicians and assistants in a hospital built around collaboration and mentorship. As the clinical leader, you’ll play a key role in developing associate veterinarians, supporting the wider team, and establishing the hospital’s medical standards while working closely with operational leadership to build a positive and supportive culture from day one.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
