Introduction
A well-established small animal hospital in Henderson, Nevada is looking to hire a Lead Veterinarian. Providing care for dogs and cats, the hospital offers a broad General Practice caseload alongside Urgent Care and more advanced medical and surgical capabilities. This is a nice opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys being hands-on clinically but would also like to take on more responsibility within the hospital, supporting the wider team and having a genuine influence on the clinical environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This is a hands-on Lead Veterinarian position, so alongside managing your own cases and continuing to practice medicine, you’ll play an important role in supporting the clinical team and maintaining high standards across the hospital. You’ll work across the full scope of General Practice, with plenty of autonomy over diagnostics, treatment planning, surgery, dentistry and ongoing case management, while also being someone the wider team can turn to for clinical guidance and support. The hospital is able to manage the majority of its patients’ medical and surgical needs in-house, with direct access to board-certified specialists within the wider clinical network when a more involved case would benefit from additional input. As a clinical leadership opportunity, this role is suited to an experienced veterinarian who is comfortable taking ownership of their own caseload while also mentoring colleagues and helping the wider veterinary team continue developing.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a full scope of GP services alongside Urgent Care, Laser Therapy, Cardiology and Ophthalmology, with the team able to manage a good range of medical and surgical cases within the hospital. Equipment and clinical capabilities available include, but are not limited to, Radiography, Ultrasound, an In-House Laboratory and modern diagnostic equipment, alongside state-of-the-art surgical equipment and facilities. The practice also has access to direct consultation with board-certified veterinary specialists, allowing more complex cases to benefit from additional expertise while continuing to be managed within the hospital where appropriate. The hospital is currently open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on Thursdays and Sundays.

You’ll be joining an established veterinary and support team where collaboration and communication are an important part of the day-to-day environment. As Lead Veterinarian, you’ll have the opportunity to be a reliable clinical resource for the people around you, whether that’s talking through a difficult case, sharing your experience or helping another veterinarian continue building their confidence and skills. At the same time, you’ll still have the independence to manage your own patients and remain closely involved in clinical work, giving you a good balance between leadership and actually practicing medicine.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
