Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a multi-species general practice hospital hiring for a Medical Director. The clinic provides comprehensive care across a wide range of species, including companion animals and exotics, delivering advanced and preventative veterinary services within a collaborative environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role offers flexibility with full-time or part-time options, including rotating or tailored schedules based on individual needs.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian. As Medical Director, responsibilities include leading and mentoring the veterinary team, fostering a collaborative culture, and maintaining high standards of clinical care. The role involves overseeing a diverse caseload across multiple species, performing advanced and routine procedures including surgery and dentistry, and utilizing diagnostic tools to support patient care. The position also requires supporting team development, promoting best practices, and ensuring a high standard of client communication and patient outcomes.

Practice Details
The hospital moved into a newly renovated building in 2021 and is equipped with modern facilities including dedicated surgical and dental suites, dental radiography, laser and cautery equipment for soft tissue procedures, and ultrasound with access to specialist services. It is AAHA accredited and practices hands-free and Fear Free medicine. Services include advanced care such as chemotherapy, digital radiology, and soft tissue surgery, alongside preventative care, wellness services, diagnostics, emergency care, hospitalization, and a wide range of primary care services. The clinic treats a diverse patient mix including dogs, cats, reptiles, avian species, small mammals, and small farm animals.

Team
The team consists of 7 DVMs supported by a great tenured support team, with approximately 1.5 to 2 veterinary assistants or technicians per doctor, creating a collaborative and well-supported working environment.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
