Introduction
Our client is an emergency and critical care hospital seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead its emergency medicine team. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency and critical care services for dogs, cats, and exotic species in a modern, full-service facility. This opportunity combines clinical practice with medical leadership in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality emergency care.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will provide emergency and critical care while overseeing the medical direction and quality of the hospital. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating emergency and critical patients, performing emergency surgical procedures, leading medical record reviews, facilitating doctor meetings, maintaining high clinical standards, and collaborating with hospital leadership to support the overall operation of the practice. The role includes approximately 10 clinical shifts per month treating patients and 1–2 administrative shifts dedicated to Medical Director responsibilities. The schedule consists primarily of day and swing shifts with occasional overnight shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays. The position is intended for an experienced veterinarian with leadership experience or a strong interest in medical leadership.

Practice Details
The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The facility includes spacious treatment areas with dedicated isolation and exotic wards, two surgical suites, a special procedures room, advanced diagnostic imaging including digital radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy, an intensive care unit with oxygen and temperature support, continuous fluid therapy, advanced patient monitoring, an in-house STAT laboratory, an in-house pharmacy, and an on-site blood donor program. Services include emergency and critical care, emergency surgery, anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, aggressive analgesia, continuous ECG monitoring and telemetry, direct blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, end tidal capnography, nasal and transtracheal oxygen therapy, and transfusion therapy. The practice offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment with dedicated operational support in areas including operations, marketing, human resources, and payroll.

Team
The hospital is staffed by 10 DVMs supported by credentialed technicians, veterinary assistants, and client service representatives. The team works in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality emergency and critical care while maintaining strong communication, teamwork, and exceptional medical standards.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
