Introduction
Our client is a veterinary hospital group that is currently seeking an experienced and visionary Regional Medical Director to provide clinical and operational leadership across a multi-state region. This is a highly influential role designed for a seasoned veterinarian who is passionate about medical excellence, leadership development, and driving positive change at scale. The Regional Medical Director will play a critical role in shaping medical standards, supporting veterinary teams, and ensuring exceptional patient care across the region.

Working Hours / Rota
This position offers flexibility in scheduling and hours of availability to accommodate the scope and responsibilities of the role. The Regional Medical Director can expect to spend approximately 65% of their time traveling throughout the region they support, which includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The role is structured to balance on-site leadership, collaboration with hospital teams, and strategic planning responsibilities.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As the Regional Medical Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving excellence across hospital operations, medical care, associate engagement, and leadership development. In this highly impactful position, you will be responsible for setting and upholding best-in-class medical standards, ensuring the consistent delivery of exceptional patient care, and supporting veterinarians in doing their best work every day. Working closely with the Chief Medical Officer, you will guide medical quality initiatives, champion innovation, and foster a culture of collaboration, growth, and clinical excellence across the region. You will provide leadership and mentorship to Medical Directors and Associate Veterinarians while supporting continuous improvement across multiple hospital sites. This role is intended for an experienced DVM with a minimum of five years of clinical practice experience, including demonstrated success leading across multiple hospital locations. Strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence and inspire teams are essential for success in this position.

The hospitals within the region operate as full-service veterinary practices committed to high-quality medicine, consistent standards of care, and strong team cultures. The organization emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, with infrastructure in place to support medical leadership, professional development, and scalable excellence across all supported locations.

Team
In this role, you will oversee and support a group of Medical Directors, working closely with Associate Veterinarians and hospital support teams across the region. You will collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to ensure alignment, consistency, and excellence at every level of the organization. This position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact by mentoring leaders, strengthening teams, and shaping the future of veterinary medicine across multiple states.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
