Introduction
This AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to lead its established six-doctor team. Serving the community since 1982, the hospital provides comprehensive medicine spanning preventative care, advanced diagnostics, surgery, urgent and emergency cases. This position combines hands-on clinical practice with responsibility for mentoring the veterinary team, maintaining medical standards and supporting the continued development of the hospital.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 2:00pm, with Sundays closed. This is a full-time position combining dedicated leadership responsibilities with an active clinical caseload, allowing the Medical Director to remain closely involved in patient care while supporting the wider veterinary team.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Medical Director, you’ll lead and mentor the hospital’s associate veterinarians while continuing to practise clinically and manage your own caseload. You’ll oversee medical standards, coach doctors around their professional development, lead regular veterinary meetings and support mentorship, externship, recruitment and retention initiatives. Working closely with the Practice Manager, you’ll also contribute to hospital performance, operational planning and regulatory compliance while helping maintain a collaborative and engaged team culture. The position requires at least two years of practical clinical experience and would suit a veterinarian interested in combining medicine with meaningful leadership responsibility.

Practice Details
The hospital has served Fort Collins since 1982 and is AAHA accredited, with a current team of six veterinarians. Its comprehensive small animal services include wellness and preventative medicine, advanced testing and diagnostics, surgical procedures, same-day appointments, drop-off services and urgent and emergency care. The practice places a strong emphasis on high clinical standards, continued professional development and collaborative case management.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
