Job Description
Introduction
Our client is an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital seeking a full-time Medical Lead Veterinarian to join its established team. The practice provides progressive care primarily for dogs and cats, with additional opportunities to work with rabbits and pocket pets. This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian who wants to remain predominantly clinical while taking on meaningful medical leadership, helping guide the hospital’s clinical standards, doctor development and continued growth.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Lead Veterinarian will spend approximately 80–90% of their time in clinical practice, providing care across wellness and preventative medicine, internal medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, urgent and same-day cases, chronic disease management and complex medical workups. The veterinarian will independently manage their own caseload, develop individualized treatment plans, build strong client relationships and continue developing their own areas of clinical interest. Approximately 10–20% of the role will focus on medical leadership, including serving as a trusted clinical resource, helping guide medical protocols and consistency of patient care, encouraging collaboration across the doctor team, supporting doctor development, and partnering with hospital leadership on clinical workflows, equipment and quality initiatives. This opportunity is intended for an experienced veterinarian who is comfortable leading collaboratively while continuing to practice hands-on medicine.
Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and is closed on Sundays. The practice is AAHA accredited and provides comprehensive small animal medicine alongside care for rabbits and pocket pets. Diagnostic capabilities include digital radiography, ultrasound, ECG, tonometry and comprehensive in-house laboratory testing. The facility also has dedicated surgical and dental capabilities, advanced anesthesia monitoring and an on-site ICU with heated cages and oxygen capabilities. Services include wellness and preventative care, dentistry, dermatology, cardiology, ophthalmology, pain management, laser therapy, behavioral care, senior medicine, hospice and end-of-life care, urgent and same-day care, intensive care and hospitalization, oncology support, and routine and advanced surgical procedures including soft tissue surgery, mass removals, laser surgery, dental surgery, vulvoplasty and cystotomy. Veterinarians also have access to board-certified specialist consultation for cases requiring additional expertise.
Team
The hospital has seven DVMs supported by an experienced technical team that includes multiple Certified Veterinary Technicians and Lead CVTs. The environment is collaborative and clinically focused, with doctors encouraged to discuss challenging cases, share knowledge and support one another’s development. The Medical Lead will work closely with both the veterinary team and hospital leadership, helping strengthen communication, accountability, clinical standards and continued learning while remaining an active member of the hospital’s day-to-day clinical team.
