Job Description

Introduction
This mixed animal practice in Elko, Nevada is seeking a Medical Director to lead its experienced veterinary team while continuing to practice high-quality medicine. With four veterinarians currently on staff, the hospital provides general practice, urgent care, emergency services, and mixed animal medicine for companion animals, equine, livestock, and exotics. Open seven days a week, the clinic offers an extensive range of advanced diagnostics and surgical services, making it one of the busiest veterinary hospitals in northeastern Nevada.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As Medical Director, you’ll divide your time between hands-on clinical practice and hospital leadership, spending the majority of your schedule seeing patients while mentoring veterinarians, maintaining medical standards, and guiding the continued growth of the practice. You’ll work closely with the Practice Manager to oversee hospital operations, support doctor development, recruit new veterinarians, optimise workflows, and ensure exceptional standards of patient care, client communication, and team culture.

Practice Details
This established mixed animal hospital has served the Elko community for many years and operates from a modern 6,000-square-foot facility. The practice offers wellness care, urgent care, emergency medicine, advanced surgery, dentistry, and diagnostics for companion animals, equine patients, livestock, and exotics. Equipment includes digital radiography, ultrasound, MRI, CT imaging, in-house laboratory facilities, electrocardiography, video otoscopy, laser therapy, regenerative medicine, endoscopy, digital dental radiography, and advanced orthopaedic capabilities including TPLO, TTA, fracture repair, and external fixation procedures.

You’ll lead a collaborative team of four veterinarians alongside experienced technicians and assistants in a supportive, team-focused environment. Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
