Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a practice providing veterinary care for dogs and cats. They are seeking an experienced Medical Director to join their team on a full-time basis. The practice combines comprehensive veterinary medicine with a leadership-focused environment and a varied caseload consisting of approximately 65% sick patients and 35% wellness cases.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining medical quality and patient care standards across the practice while providing leadership, mentorship, and support to associate veterinarians and staff. The role is also part of the hospital management team, contributing to overall financial performance and helping shape the direction of the practice. Alongside these leadership responsibilities, the Medical Director will perform the duties of a staff veterinarian and spend the majority of their time working clinically and mentoring doctors. The position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, with approximately 10% of that time allocated to Medical Director duties. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The practice is AAHA-accredited and Fear Free, with equipment including ultrasound, laser, digital X-ray, dental X-ray, EKG, Tonopen, an in-house laboratory and pharmacy, an in-office surgical suite, an isolation ward, and resources for intensive care, oxygen and transfusion therapy. Clinical services include preventive and wellness care, internal medicine, advanced dentistry, dermatology, diagnostics, general and soft tissue surgery, laser surgery, hospitalization, pain management, urology, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, diabetes management, senior care, and puppy and kitten care. Opening hours are Monday through Wednesday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday by availability, and the practice is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
