Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital for Cats and Dogs that is hiring a Full-Time Medical Director. Having cared for pets in the community for 35 years, the practice has built a longstanding reputation for delivering high quality veterinary care within a collaborative and patient-focused environment. This opportunity offers the chance to join an established hospital with a loyal client base while taking on a key leadership role focused on maintaining clinical excellence, supporting team development, and helping guide the continued success of the practice.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will be responsible for overseeing the full scope of Veterinary Medical Director responsibilities while supporting high clinical standards and leading the medical team within the hospital. This role combines hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibilities, providing the opportunity to mentor team members, help guide medical protocols, and contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice. The caseload includes a broad range of general practice responsibilities, including wellness and preventative care, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, and medical case management. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian who is confident balancing leadership and clinical responsibilities within a collaborative and supportive environment. The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, supporting both consistency within the hospital and strong work-life balance.

Practice Details
This is an AAHA-accredited hospital offering Advanced Dental Care alongside a full scope of GP services within a well-equipped and patient-focused clinical environment. The practice is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including but not limited to an in-house laboratory, Tonopen equipment, digital x-ray, and digital dental x-ray technology, supporting efficient workflow and comprehensive patient care across a wide variety of cases. Facilities include an Isolation Ward and an In-Office Surgical Suite designed to support both routine and more advanced procedures. The hospital is committed to using fear-free techniques whenever possible, helping create a lower-stress experience for both patients and clients while supporting compassionate and high quality medicine. In addition to veterinary services, the practice also offers pet counselling and DNA breed testing services, allowing the team to provide additional support and guidance to pet owners. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and is closed on weekends, supporting a balanced schedule for the veterinary team while continuing to provide consistent care to the community.

Team
The hospital consists of 2 DVMs supported by a dedicated team of veterinary technicians and client service professionals who share a commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care. The team environment encourages collaboration, mentorship, innovation, and open communication, allowing veterinarians to work closely with experienced support staff while continuing to develop their own clinical and leadership skills. The culture is designed to support long-term professional growth and create an environment where team members feel valued while contributing to the hospital’s shared mission of delivering high quality veterinary medicine.
