Introduction
A modern small animal hospital in South Denver, Colorado is seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead its clinical team while remaining actively involved in patient care. This role is well suited to a veterinarian who enjoys balancing hands-on medicine with meaningful leadership, mentorship, and influence over medical standards. The practice is built around empowering veterinarians with true clinical autonomy and fostering a culture focused on collaboration, trust, and exceptional care for pets and their families.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position structured to allow the Medical Director to spend the majority of their time in clinical practice, with a smaller portion dedicated to leadership responsibilities. Scheduling is designed to support consistency and sustainability, with an emphasis on maintaining a healthy work-life balance while meeting the needs of the hospital and its clients.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will dedicate approximately eighty five percent of their time to providing high-quality veterinary care, with the remaining time focused on leadership and team development. Responsibilities include overseeing medical quality, mentoring and coaching associate veterinarians, leading case discussions and rounds, and supporting the development of clinical protocols that prioritize patient safety and client experience. The role also involves close collaboration with operational leadership on staffing, scheduling, and overall hospital performance, as well as serving as a visible and supportive clinical leader within the practice and the wider veterinary community.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
