Job Description

Introduction
A busy, community-focused small animal hospital in Capitol Hill, Denver is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to guide its established three-doctor team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian ready to step into leadership while continuing to practice high-quality medicine, shaping clinic culture and clinical standards within a supportive, veterinarian-led environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital offers general practice hours Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 2:00pm, alongside urgent care hours on Friday evenings from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, Saturday from 2:00pm to 10:00pm, and Sunday from 9:00am to 6:00pm, with the rota structured to balance leadership responsibilities and clinical time.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will combine clinical work with leadership duties, overseeing medical standards, mentoring and developing the veterinary team, supporting case discussions, and helping to shape a positive, collaborative culture while ensuring high-quality patient care across both general practice and urgent care services.

This modern hospital provides a full range of services including general practice, urgent care, surgery, dentistry, and in-house pharmacy, within a veterinarian-led model that offers full clinical autonomy, strong operational support, and the ability to influence the direction and growth of the practice while benefiting from excellent earning potential and benefits.

Team
You will lead a team of three veterinarians supported by experienced technicians and support staff, within a close-knit, collaborative environment that values mentorship, teamwork, and strong community connections.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
