Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring a Medical Director to join a small animal practice providing care to cats and dogs. The hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to lead the clinical team while delivering high-quality, advanced medical care in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The role involves a combination of leadership and clinical responsibilities, including mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, conducting performance discussions, and fostering a culture of teamwork and retention. The Medical Director will work closely with the Practice Manager to support hospital operations, contribute to financial performance, and ensure compliance with medical and regulatory standards. Clinical duties include wellness and preventative care, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, urgent care, and internal medicine. The role also includes leading team meetings, supporting mentorship and externship programs, and promoting continuous improvement in patient care and client service. This is a full-time position suited to experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
Our client is a small animal hospital focused on delivering comprehensive and advanced veterinary care. The practice offers services including wellness and prevention, testing and diagnostics, advanced care, surgical procedures, urgent care, blood analysis, X-rays, fracture repair, and medication management. The hospital supports complex medical and surgical cases, with access to advanced services such as surgery, dentistry, ultrasound, and internal medicine. The culture emphasizes collaboration, professional development, and continuous learning, supported by access to broader resources and internal consultation. Hospital opening hours are Monday 8:00 am–6:00 pm, Tuesday 8:00 am–8:00 pm, Wednesday to Friday 8:00 am–6:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am–3:00 pm, and Sunday 8:00 am–1:00 pm.

Team
The team consists of 7 DVMs supported by a great tenured support team. The environment is collaborative, mentoring-focused, and supportive, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and delivering high-quality patient care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
