Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a practice that provides care for small animals and exotics (with no requirement to treat exotics) and is currently hiring for a full-time Medical Director to lead their team. Serving the community since 1985, the hospital offers comprehensive, high-quality veterinary care in a brand-new, purpose-built facility. This position is ideal for an experienced veterinarian seeking a leadership role within a collaborative, well-equipped, and highly respected practice.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm and is closed on weekends. Doctor hours are to be discussed. This is a full-time position.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will champion medical excellence within the hospital while providing high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, conducting regular performance discussions, and supporting individual doctor growth, including production goals. The Medical Director will collaborate closely with the Practice Manager to build a healthy, engaged team, contribute to the annual operating plan, and help manage financial performance toward hospital goals. This role involves ensuring compliance with all medical and DEA regulations, leading monthly doctor meetings, overseeing mentorship and externship programs, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Medical Director will also serve as an ambassador for the hospital within the community. Alongside these leadership duties, the Medical Director will perform physical examinations, develop diagnostic and treatment plans, carry out surgical and dental procedures, maintain accurate records, and communicate clearly with clients to support informed decision-making.

Practice Details
The hospital is fully equipped with in-house laboratory equipment, digital X-ray, digital dental X-ray, ultrasound with color Doppler, CardioPet ECG, telemedicine, therapeutic laser, and a full surgical suite with advanced monitoring equipment and electrical cautery. The practice operates from a newly constructed, purpose-built facility featuring five exam rooms, a large treatment area, radiology, a surgery suite, isolation, and boarding. Services include behavioral care, dermatology, dental care, internal medicine, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiology, surgery (including some orthopedics), and autoimmune conditions. An in-house cardiologist and orthopedic surgeon are available as needed. The diverse caseload includes both small animals and exotics, offering a wide range of clinical opportunities.

Team
The hospital is a 5-doctor practice supported by a highly leveraged and experienced staff, including multiple RVTs, all working in a collaborative environment. The culture emphasizes teamwork, professional growth, and delivering exceptional care to patients and clients.
