Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a small-animal veterinary hospital and is currently hiring a full-time Medical Director Veterinarian. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian ready to step into a leadership position within a well-established, team-oriented practice known for high-quality medicine and strong client relationships.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, with drop-offs beginning at 7:15 am. The practice is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 8:00 am to noon and is closed on Sundays. This is a full-time position with no after-hours required.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director Veterinarian is responsible for providing medical leadership while continuing to practice clinical medicine. Daily responsibilities include examining and treating companion animals, performing surgery, interpreting diagnostic results, prescribing medications, and guiding end-of-life care. The role also includes setting and maintaining medical standards, mentoring veterinarians, ensuring compliance with veterinary ethics and regulations, and fostering a collaborative, positive team culture. This position is open to experienced veterinarians only.

Practice Details
The hospital is a full-service small-animal practice providing comprehensive veterinary care with a focus on preventative medicine and long-term patient wellness. Services offered include puppy and kitten care, wellness and senior pet care, parasite control, dental care, diagnostic services supported by an in-house laboratory, surgery and related services, arthritis care, and dermatologic care. The practice culture emphasizes teamwork, autonomy, continuous improvement, and strong client communication in a supportive and upbeat environment.

Team
The team consists of three DVMs supported by a dedicated and experienced support staff. The environment is described as close-knit, collaborative, and mentoring-focused, with an emphasis on leadership development, shared learning, and mutual support.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
