Job Description

Introduction
Our client is an AAHA-accredited small animal hospital with Fear Free certified staff, looking for a Medical Director to join the practice on a full-time or part-time basis, providing care for cats and dogs. Located in an affluent neighborhood close to New York City, the hospital has served its community since 1937.

Role Description and Responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities include wellness examinations, preventative vaccinations, dietary counseling, weight management, dental care, diagnostic testing and surgical procedures. The hospital also provides 24-hour emergency assistance, allowing clients to reach a doctor day or night. The role would suit a collaborative veterinarian who enjoys teaching others and working as part of a team, alongside a curious, lifelong learner seeking continued growth and a dynamic, fulfilling career. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate individual needs, with rotating weekends and evenings.

Practice Details
The hospital has maintained AAHA accreditation for many years. Facilities and resources include hands-free X-rays, laboratory testing, mobile ultrasound and AFAST/TFAST ultrasound. A mobile orthopedic surgeon is also available. The hospital is open seven days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm; Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00am–6:00pm; Saturday, 8:00am–12:00pm; and Sunday, 9:00am–1:00pm.

Team
The team consists of two veterinarians, one full-time doctor and one part-time relief veterinarian supported by seven support staff. Staffing includes two veterinary assistants per doctor, with additional assistants providing floating support. The hospital has long-serving staff members with at least six years of service. Veterinarians, technicians and support staff are trained in veterinary procedures and medicines to support preventative and therapeutic care.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
