Job Description

Introduction
Our client is a hospital hiring for a full-time Medical Director within an AAHA-accredited small animal general practice. The hospital provides high-quality, compassionate care to dogs and cats and is seeking an experienced veterinarian to lead the clinical team while continuing to deliver excellent patient care in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will combine clinical duties with leadership responsibilities, providing care across diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, and general medicine while setting the standard for clinical excellence within the hospital. The role includes mentoring and developing associate veterinarians and support staff, contributing to training and performance development, and ensuring high standards of medical and surgical care are maintained. Responsibilities also include overseeing medical protocols, reviewing estimates and discharge instructions, supporting administrative operations in partnership with the hospital manager, and fostering a culture of teamwork, growth, and accountability. The Medical Director will also engage in community outreach and help strengthen relationships with local partners. Doctor hours follow a structured full-time schedule within the hospital’s operating hours.

Practice Details
The hospital operates Monday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with closure on Wednesdays and Sundays. The facility is AAHA accredited and equipped to provide comprehensive services including wellness care, dentistry, surgery, dermatology, and additional general practice services. The hospital utilizes Fear Free techniques to promote low-stress patient care and also offers additional services including cat boarding and dog grooming. The practice is actively involved in the local community and partners with multiple animal rescue organizations. The culture emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Team
The team consists of veterinarians supported by a skilled and collaborative support staff, including individuals who are Fear Free Certified. The environment is team-oriented and mentoring-focused, with a strong emphasis on professional development, continuing education, and fostering a positive, respectful workplace culture.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
