Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a Lead Veterinarian to join their veterinary team providing care for companion animals. This role blends clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, allowing the Lead Veterinarian to guide medical standards while continuing to provide high-quality patient care. The position is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who is passionate about mentoring colleagues, maintaining strong clinical standards, and supporting a collaborative hospital culture.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. Hospital hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday closed, Saturday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on an alternating basis, and Sunday closed.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will spend approximately 85% of their time performing clinical veterinary duties and 15% focused on leadership responsibilities. Clinical work includes providing comprehensive veterinary care such as wellness exams, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, and urgent care services. Leadership responsibilities include supervising medical procedures and guidelines, mentoring associate veterinarians through coaching and case discussions, leading daily rounds and staff meetings, and supporting hospital culture and team development. The role also involves collaborating with leadership on budgeting, staffing, and hospital productivity, helping create doctor schedules, supporting recruitment efforts, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered veterinary care. This position is open to experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
The hospital provides a broad range of veterinary services including primary care, behavioral consultations, dermatology, diagnostics, euthanasia, microchipping, nutritional counseling, oncology diagnostics, oral health, vaccinations, wellness exams, surgery, spaying and neutering, travel documentation, and urgent care services. The practice emphasizes veterinarian autonomy, collaborative care, and maintaining high standards of veterinary medicine.

The hospital has 2 DVMs and a great tenured support team, creating a supportive environment where collaboration and mentorship are encouraged.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
