Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a small animal hospital seeking a Medical Director to join their team, providing care for cats and dogs while leading clinical excellence within a collaborative practice.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will combine clinical duties with leadership responsibilities, delivering high-quality veterinary care across wellness, diagnostics, advanced treatments, surgical procedures, and urgent care cases. In addition to practicing medicine, the role involves mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, conducting performance discussions, and fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement. The Medical Director will partner with the Practice Manager to support hospital performance, ensure compliance with medical and regulatory standards, and contribute to operational planning. Responsibilities also include leading doctor meetings, supporting mentorship and externship programs, and acting as an ambassador within the community. This position is suited to an experienced veterinarian with strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to high standards of patient care.
Practice Details
The hospital is a well-established small animal practice serving its community since 2020, with a strong reputation reflected in a 4.7-star rating. It offers a comprehensive range of services including wellness and prevention, testing and diagnostics, advanced care, surgical procedures, and urgent care. The practice is equipped to support both routine and complex cases, providing veterinarians with the resources needed to deliver high-quality, modern veterinary medicine. The hospital operates Monday to Friday between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM, with slight variations by day, and is closed on weekends. The culture emphasizes professional growth, collaboration, and compassionate care.
Team
The team consists of 5 DVMs supported by a great tenured support staff, creating a collaborative and supportive environment focused on development and high-quality care.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
