A well-established animal hospital in Carson City, Nevada is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to lead and grow its practice. The hospital has been serving pets since 1995 and is known for delivering high-quality, community-focused care in a supportive environment. Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position with a structured weekday schedule that supports balance and sustainability. The hospital operates Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The clinic is closed on weekends, with no after-hours or emergency requirements, allowing for consistent time off and predictable routines.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will provide clinical leadership while dedicating the majority of their time to practicing medicine. Responsibilities include overseeing medical standards, establishing treatment protocols, mentoring associate veterinarians as the hospital grows, and ensuring regulatory compliance related to the practice of veterinary medicine. In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the Medical Director supports operational performance, financial oversight, and team development. This role requires strong communication skills, clinical confidence, and a collaborative mindset to foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented environment. You will guide case management, support client education, and ensure continuity of care across the hospital as expansion plans move forward.

Practice Details
The hospital is a well-established small animal practice serving Carson City and the surrounding areas. In addition to dogs and cats, the clinic also sees exotics and pocket pets, creating a varied and interesting caseload. The facility includes five exam rooms and a dedicated surgical suite, supported by digital dental radiography, ultrasound, echocardiogram capability, cold laser therapy, and stem cell therapy. The practice also provides wellness exams, diagnostics, surgery, and emergency care tailored to each patient’s needs, within a modern and well-equipped environment.

You will work alongside a friendly, collaborative team committed to maintaining a supportive and enjoyable workplace. The hospital currently has two veterinarians and a strong support team, with a culture that emphasizes teamwork, long-term staff retention, and genuine working relationships. As the hospital grows, you will play a key role in recruiting, developing, and mentoring additional veterinarians, helping to build a cohesive team aligned around medical excellence and strong client relationships.

Candidate Requirements 

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
