Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a practice seeking a Medical Director to lead their well-established small animal hospital. Serving the local community since 1976, this clinic focuses exclusively on canine and feline patients and is known for delivering high-quality, client-centered care in a collaborative and supportive environment. This is an opportunity for a compassionate and motivated veterinarian to take on a leadership role while maintaining an active clinical presence and helping shape the future of the practice.
Working Hours / Rota
This role offers excellent work-life balance, with a flexible full-time schedule available. The hospital operates Monday to Wednesday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Thursday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The schedule can be tailored to suit both the individual and the practice.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical, surgical, and preventive care while also leading the clinical team and guiding medical standards within the hospital. Clinical responsibilities include wellness exams, vaccinations, soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, and diagnostics. In addition to hands-on clinical duties, the role involves mentoring and supporting the team, fostering a collaborative culture, and influencing the overall direction and growth of the practice. The position is suited to experienced veterinarians who are confident in small animal medicine and interested in leadership.
Practice Details
The clinic operates during weekday hours only, providing a structured and balanced schedule. The practice is equipped with a full in-house laboratory with external reference capabilities, digital radiography, and a surgical laser. Facilities are designed to support efficient workflows and high-quality patient care. Services offered include preventive healthcare, dentistry, radiology, laser-assisted surgical procedures, individualized parasite control, microchipping, emergency care, dietary counseling, and an on-site pharmacy. Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
