Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing mixed animal care and is seeking a full-time Lead Veterinarian to join their team in Northern Virginia. For more than 30 years, the practice has been a trusted part of the local community, known for exceptional patient care, strong client relationships, and a supportive culture. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced veterinarian looking to take on a leadership role within a collaborative environment that values communication, mentorship, professional growth, and high-quality medicine.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will provide medical leadership while maintaining an active clinical caseload. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality veterinary care, supporting and mentoring team members, fostering strong client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth and success of the hospital. The role offers the opportunity to pursue individual clinical interests while working alongside a collaborative team. Clinical services provided by the hospital include preventative care, surgery, diagnostics, acupuncture, chiropractic care, laser therapy, and platelet-rich plasma therapy. Surgical procedures performed include oral surgery, spays and neuters, medial patellar luxation correction, lateral suture repair of torn cranial cruciate ligaments, IM pinning, splenectomies, cystotomies, amputations, femoral head osteotomy procedures, third eyelid gland replacement or removal, foreign body retrieval, anal sacculectomy, mass removals, and C-sections. This position is intended for experienced veterinarians.

Practice Details
The hospital has served the community for over 30 years and is committed to providing exceptional veterinary care in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. The practice is fully staffed and equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including digital radiography, endoscopy, ultrasound, arthroscopy, and eye pressure testing equipment. Services offered include preventative medicine, advanced surgical procedures, acupuncture, chiropractic care, laser therapy, and platelet-rich plasma therapy. The hospital promotes a culture of collaboration, curiosity, lifelong learning, and professional development while supporting a healthy work-life balance with a schedule of three full days and one half day per week and no overnight or on-call responsibilities. Hospital hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and closed on Sundays.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
  • Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
  • Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
